Brief Description: A language of the Central Highlands of Colombia formerly spoken by the Muisca people around Bogotá, speakers of the language were once very numerous. Descendants of the tribe are still located near the towns of Tocancipa, Cota, Gachancipa and Tenjo. The language was banned by King Charles III of Spain on May 10, 1770, and remained so until 1991. Extinct c. 1800.
