Brief Description:
"Cahuilla is a Uto-Aztecan language of the Takic subfamily, the heritage language of several small tribes in the inland area of southern California, including people at Morongo, Agua Caliente (Palm Springs), Cabazon, Augustine, Torres-Martinez, Santa Rosa, Cahuilla, Ramona, and Los Coyotes. Originally there were probably three dialects of Cahuilla: Mountain, Desert, and Malki. There are approximately 30 fluent first-language speakers of Cahuilla in a combined reservation population of about 2,300." Victor Golla, Atlas of the World's Languages 2007 pg. 11
