Brief Description:
"Plains Cree is the dialect of Cree spoken in a large number of communities in the central prairies of Alberta and Saskatchewan. Northern and southern dialects are distinguished on the basis of phonology and morphology. Plains Cree has become the prestige dialect of Cree, largely because a considerable amount of nineteenth and early twentieth century religious literature was published in it, using the syllabic script."
