Brief Description:
An ancient language of Italy. Very few texts exist, but it is clear that the language is part of the Oscan-Umbrian group. The language is written in a number of alphabets, all derived from a North Etruscan model. Some of these are unusual in that they use orthographic marks for syllable and word boundaries. It may not be related to North Picene, part of whose name it shares. 6th century BC to 4th century BC.
