Brief Description: "Twana was a Central Salish language formerly spoken along Hood Canal on the east side of the Olympic Peninsula in northwestern Washington. The Twana were concentrated on the Skokomish Reservation in 1859, where dialect differences were lost but the language and culture survived for several generations. The last fluent speaker died in 1980." Victor Golla, Atlas of the World's Languages 2007 pg. 24
