Brief Description: "Apalachee was an Eastern Muskogean language that was spoken in the late seventeenth century in northern Florida around present-day Tallahassee and Apalachee Bay. It is attested mainly in a letter written in 1688 to Charles II of Spain, published in 1860, the original of which is lost. This difficult document has been analysed in detail by several scholars and a vocabulary of about 120 items recovered." Victor Golla, Atlas of the World's Languages 2007 pg. 10
