Brief Description: "Upper Umpqua was a language of the Oregon Athabaskan subgroup formerly spoken in the upper drainage of the Umpqua River in southwestern Oregon. After the Rogue River War of 1855-6 the Upper Umpquas were forcibly resettled in northern Oregon on the Grand Ronde and Siletz Reservations, and the language rapidly fell out of use.
