Lassen in the northern Sacramento Valley. It is an isolate, often associated with the controversial Hokan stock. There were three principal dialects: Northern Yana, spoken in a small area around Montgomery Creek; Central Yana, on Cow Creek; and Southern Yana, spoken in the southern two-thirds of the territory.
