Code Standard: ISO 639-3
Documentation: LINGUIST List
Brief Description: "Karankawa was spoken until the mid-nineteenth century along the south Texas coast from Galveston to Corpus Christi. It is attested in several vocabularies, collected between 1698 and 1888, one of the most extensive from a white woman in Massachusetts who had spent her childhood near the last Karankawa-speaking community. Although earlier thought to be part of a 'Coahuiltecan' family Karankawa is now considered to be an isolate." Victor Golla, Atlas of the World's Languages 2007 pg. 16
